Rivers

From dams to drought and toxic run-off,
our waterways are under constant pressure.
Help us protect the lifeblood of our community.

The Alliance is the lead organization in the San Juan Basin working to protect free-flowing clean rivers and streams, increase system-wide water efficiencies, improve water quality, and promote democracy in water policy creation. We work at the scale of watersheds, understanding that you cannot separate the health of the waterways from the lands that feed them.

Why We Work on Water Issues

Free flowing, healthy rivers are the lifeblood of our backcountry landscapes and wildlife. Water is essential to maintaining thriving ecosystems and communities.

For everything from drinking water to agriculture, recreation to healthy ecosystems, clean water from rivers is what sustains us. Protecting our rivers is essential to maintain our region’s environment, public health, and economy.

Water is the driving force of all nature.
